There has been a search for the famous pilot Amelia Earhart going on since the day she went missing on her bid to circle the globe along the equator in her plane. According to recent articles it appears that she crashed on a remote island chain just short of 300 miles off her destination. Basically she and her navigator were real life castaways.

I have seen the Castaway movie with Tom Hanks, and let me tell you, I could not imagine having to go through something like that. Many people romanticize things like that. No way here. One of the producers of the film actually did an island survival course to see what it would be like. According to him and his experience, it was brutal.

I would have to imagine if they did survive the crash which it appears they did, they may not have lived too long on that island. Nobody knows for sure how long they lived or did not.

Imagine yourself on a remote island, by yourself or with one other person. How do you think you would do? For me, I would not do well! There are many survival retreats out there, if you think you have what it takes, go for it and try one.
