Desert Islands

What are desert islands? Basically this term is used in context with islands that are not lived on and have extreme weather conditions. Usually many of these islands are extremely hot and dry. Although they are surrounded by water, it does not mean that they will blessed with tons of rain and a lush green landscape. They may have mountain ranges that are green on one side and literally dead on another. Due to the sheer size of the mountain, it can cause the weather to be in one way beautiful, rainy and lush, yet on the other side block any of this activity from happening.

It can also just mean that people have not inhabited the island. Take any lived in country now and look back long ago before people lived there and you would have wild and un-traveled lands.

Never romanticize such a place. These islands can be tough to live on. They can be full of dangerous insects and wildlife. Also, there would be little way for you to get any of the medical care you could possibly need. So keep that in mind the next time you hear the term deserted island. It may not be the best place in the world to be.
