Maldives Underwater
The Maldives is an island like so many in the world. Reading various articles I did learn that they are different in many ways though. For one, the officials there decided to hold an underwater meeting. Why? Basically it has been predicted that in 100 years or less the island could be submerged in water. This would leave about 400,000 people homeless. They would all be refugees.
They are trying to lead the way for climate changes. Changes that they say can only be made by the rest of the world’s inhabitants.
Their claim is that global warming is ruining the earth and that their island will meet its tragic end in the near future. Their hopes with regards to this meeting were to make aware the dire need for the world to make the necessary changes to improve the planet’s eco systems. Looking around where I live, people really do not care about recycling, saving on gas or cutting the use of items that pollute our world. If the world’s leaders do not step in, it could be too late.
