Oil Rig Islands

Oil rigs are essentially man made islands built in the middle of an ocean to pump oil from the depths of the sea to the surface.

Investors are now lining up to back an initiative to build their own island similar to what is done on an oil rig. Basically their thought process is to build a community that is free from the basic laws on most countries where they will come up with their own rules and moral codes, among other things. What could something like this cost? It would be billions of dollars, not to mention the cost for each individual to live there.

The team should have offices up next year in San Francisco and think they will be done building in 7 or so years. They will do this in international waters, free from governments and such. So would you move to such a place? Do you think it would be safe being out in the ocean like that? It sure does seem a little scary, that’s for sure.
