There are some islands in the world that do more than just offer a beautiful place to lay out in the sun or take a swim in the ocean. The fact is that some islands can be quite large. Take Japan for example. Although it is made up of over 4000 islands, most of the 30 million people that call Japan home live on the 4 main islands. These islands were formed long ago by volcanic activity. These types of islands are called archipelagos.
Japan’s economy is massive; they are second in the world when it comes to this fact. They export tons of goods and also import much as well.
So the next time you think that all islands are these beautiful sandy little beaches -think again!
Most islands in the world today rely on tourism to fuel their economies. Tourists bring money to spend when they are on vacation. They like to eat the exotic foods, take long fishing trips on the ocean and go scuba diving.
One way islands see tourists is through the cruise liners. Cruise ships often will make some island ports typical stops on their ocean voyages. These cruise ships must stop at island ports that can handle sometimes thousands of cruise ship passengers.
But when money problems hit certain places like the US and Japan, it can really hurt these islands as well. If people are living frugally, they are less likely to take long vacations/trips. One of the first areas people usually cut is travel budgets.
So the next time you do plan a vacation remember that some of these places, if not all of them, really rely on your vacation money to live on.
Now that you have chosen how much money you have to spend on your vacation and have decided what your maximum budget may be whether small or large, it then may be a good idea to now write down what activities you want to enjoy while you’re on vacation. Let’s say all you want to do is eat out and sit on the beach and relax. Then your choices of vacation spots may be pretty vast. Now you may be able to narrow it down by adding in activities like great surfing, good fishing or scuba diving, the possibilities can seem endless. You may even like to go inward towards the more mountainous regions of an island to explore.
No matter what, just set a budget and do your research on what activities you love. Hopefully you will plan the vacation of a lifetime.
There are so many island paradises to choose from when you consider next where it is you will go on vacation. From Hawaii to the Bahamas, the choices can almost seem endless.
The first thing that you may want to consider is your budget. How much do you plan on spending? If you are low on cash, then sometimes the closer you go to where you currently are the cheaper it may be. Also, since economies are struggling, some places may be running amazing deals for you to take advantage of. These deals can truly be a great way to stretch your vacationing dollars. These deals may come in the form of packages or you may be able to piece together one yourself. It all really comes down to how much you have. -cont…
Now that you are Ok with staying on the island without leaving much, remember you are a very small blip on the map surrounded by tons of water. The weather can certainly be trying depending on just where you live. Many islands can experience hurricanes and even earthquakes quite often. Some islands also have volcanoes that still must be dealt with depending on what part of the island you live on.
The weather may 99% of the time be truly amazing, but as you know a strong hurricane can really change things instantly. So before you go off and buy yourself an island home, make sure you do your research first before you just up and leave where you’re at. In the end you will be glad you did.
Island living can be a wonderful life to live. Certainly many people that dream of living on some remote island also have visited them in the past, say on vacation. They spent a week or so there and really lived it up, eating out daily, shopping and sitting by the shore enjoying the amazing ocean view. Living on an island permanently can certainly be quite different though. Sure the weather may still be amazing and the beaches will still be there, but a true island lifestyle depending on where you go may be a little tougher.
For one thing, remember you are on an island. Leaving the island may not be that easy and could prove costly it you always get the itch to get off of it. Once you are there, depending on its size, you may have very few places to travel to easily. -cont…
For many island residents, they truly love where they live. If you were to ask them if they wanted to leave their island home to move elsewhere they might say never. For one reason, the climate can make many people wish never to live anywhere else. Sure it can get hot, but rarely would you ever have to deal with a terribly cold winter like you do in some places in the north.
They also love the culture that an island tends to bring. They have farmers markets, people trade produce for seafood, and the views can just be truly breath taking. If you were to move say from Texas to Arkansas, you may not experience much change overall, but move say from the Bahamas to Minnesota, well now that might be really rough on some people.
