Rough Times On Some Islands

Take a look at this article. As tough times seem to continue to plague much of the world, these rough times are carried off the mainland and onto some islands and resorts. Puerto Rico has a 16.4% unemployment rate, lots higher than the rate in the US. Once the tough times started to hit here and in other places like Japan, places like Puerto Rico that rely on tourism from all over the world took a hit.

So no matter where you are in this country, it seems that once a tough time hits a large country, chances are these tough times could be felt even on some remote islands. Whether tourism slows down or the prices of imports go up from the struggling nations, recessions anywhere in the world can bring rough times to many.

One of the first places people will cut is there vacation budgets. This is certainly a luxury, so cutting it out seems to top most people’s list. Vacations can cost lots of money depending on where you go.

So if you’re headed to an island somewhere, chances are they have been feeling the pains of our recession as well in some form or fashion.
